01 What Makes This Different

Advisory where process depth
meets strategic judgment

01
Deep industrial process understanding
Understanding not only equipment, but how full industrial systems behave in operation — constraints, interfaces, bottlenecks, uptime drivers and engineering trade-offs that only become visible with real operational experience.
02
Strong judgment on technology selection
Comparing technologies not on brochure claims, but on what matters over the lifecycle: operability, maintainability, reliability, energy performance, product quality, future flexibility and total cost of ownership.
03
Bridging strategy and execution
Some advisors stay at concept level. Some engineers stay at drawing level. The value here sits in between and across both: shaping the decision, challenging assumptions and translating it into executable industrial reality.
04
AI-enabled analytical depth
Actively using AI to improve engineering productivity, scenario assessment, technology comparison and decision support — not as fashion, but as a practical force multiplier for better client outcomes.

01 — Technology Selection
01
Technology Selection & Supplier Evaluation
Structured comparison of industrial technology options beyond brochure claims — including CAPEX, OPEX, lifecycle performance, operability and risk profile. I help clients choose not just between suppliers, but between fundamentally different industrial philosophies.
02
Engineering Concept Review & Challenge
Independent technical challenge of supplier proposals, design assumptions, constructability, scope gaps and hidden project risks — before they become embedded in contracts. The most valuable advisory role is to challenge assumptions before they become expensive facts.
03
Decarbonization & Energy Strategy
Biomass integration, fuel switching, steam system redesign and industrial energy optimization — with honest assessment of economics, operability and lifecycle implications. Decarbonization that improves competitiveness, not just optics.
04
Owner-Side Technical Advisory
Representing owner interests through complex project phases — from feasibility and concept through pre-engineering, supplier selection, construction and commissioning readiness. A technically credible, commercially aware and independent view.
05
Terminal & Logistics Analysis
Review and optimization of bulk handling systems, terminal layouts, material flow, bottlenecks and port-to-plant integration — linking terminal performance directly to plant economics and operational reliability.
06
AI-Enabled Industrial Analysis
Advanced digital workflows to accelerate document analysis, technology comparison, scenario development and delivery of management-grade outputs on complex industrial topics. Practical intelligence that sharpens every other advisory service.
Typical Client Questions
Oilseed Processing
  • Which technology supplier gives the best long-term value?
  • How do we compare Chinese and European offers in a disciplined way?
  • What is the hidden operational impact of a low-CAPEX choice?
  • How should the plant be designed to preserve future flexibility?
Biomass & Decarbonization
  • Is this biomass concept technically robust and operationally realistic?
  • What are the hidden engineering and safety risks?
  • What is the lifecycle logic versus gas or other heat sources?
  • Which assumptions must be challenged before investment approval?
Port & Terminal
  • Where are the real flow losses in the terminal concept?
  • What is driving hidden demurrage or berth inefficiency?
  • Is the handling system aligned with the plant's true logistics rhythm?
  • How can the terminal be rethought for better throughput?
Engineering Review
  • Are there scope gaps that will create costly problems later?
  • Does the layout support practical maintenance and operation?
  • Are fire protection and ATEX interfaces properly addressed?
  • Is the supplier offer complete, or are key items missing?

Professional Profile

A background that rarely
comes together in one profile

Konstantin Lebedev is an industrial engineering and technology advisor with deep expertise in oilseed processing, biomass energy systems, industrial decarbonization, terminal infrastructure and AI-enabled engineering analysis.

His career has spanned the full industrial project lifecycle — from early feasibility and technology selection through engineering coordination, construction supervision and operational startup. This breadth gives him an unusually complete view of where industrial projects succeed or fail.

Process technology depth. Deep understanding of oilseed processing systems including soybean, sunflower and rapeseed — seed preparation, dehulling, extraction, refining, meal handling and high-protein product concepts.

Energy systems expertise. Strong command of biomass boilers, steam systems, industrial heat integration and the practical economics of decarbonization investments in processing plants.

Operational reality. Having worked not only on engineering but in industrial operations — he understands how plants actually run: maintainability, staffing logic, equipment behavior and what commonly goes wrong after handover.

AI and digital methods. Actively exploring how AI and digital workflows can improve engineering analysis, decision quality and the speed of complex industrial assessments.

What I Believe

Six principles that shape
every advisory engagement

01
A technically elegant solution is not enough if it is weak operationally.
02
The cheapest CAPEX option is often not the best asset over the lifecycle.
03
Layout, utilities and logistics matter as much as core process equipment.
04
Decarbonization should improve competitiveness, not just corporate optics.
05
AI is valuable when it strengthens judgment and speed — not when it replaces engineering thinking.
06
Strong projects are built on clear assumptions, disciplined comparison and honest challenge.
04 Insights

Structured thinking for
industrial decision-makers

The most valuable industrial insights are found where disciplines overlap: process, utilities, logistics, safety, economics and digital enablement.

Oilseed Processing
How to compare oilseed technology suppliers beyond brochure claims
The real differences between suppliers emerge not from spec sheets, but from long-term operability, service infrastructure and TCO logic over the asset lifecycle.
Coming soon
Oilseed Processing
Why future flexibility matters in new oilseed plant design
A plant built purely for today's product mix is often a poor investment. The design decisions that preserve flexibility are rarely expensive — but they must be made early.
Coming soon
Biomass Energy
What makes a biomass boiler project genuinely bankable and operable
Many biomass projects look attractive on paper. Those that succeed long-term share specific engineering and logistics characteristics often underweighted at the investment stage.
Coming soon
Decarbonization
Common blind spots in industrial decarbonization programs
The projects that fail are not usually those with the wrong technology — they are the ones where operability, reliability and economic reality were treated as secondary concerns.
Coming soon
Port & Terminal
Why terminal inefficiency is a system-design problem, not an operator problem
Demurrage, congestion and throughput shortfalls are rarely caused by operator failure. They are usually baked in at the concept and layout stage of terminal design.
Coming soon
AI in Engineering
Where AI already creates practical value in industrial project work
Not all AI applications in engineering are equal. Understanding which ones deliver immediate, measurable value — and how to deploy them — is itself a competitive advantage.
